Kitchen Cabinet Color Trends
Jul 24, 2009 Kitchen Styles
Kitchen cabinets for 2009 are taking on playful and bright hues. Fun colors to add pizazz and uniqueness to your kitchen that make it stand out from the rest. Some color experts have identified a few of the hottest trends for the coming year, that include shades of purple that add a beautiful strong statement when complimented with white counter tops. Purple will also begin to go up on walls, on back splashes and even on floors. It is truly a beautiful color palette to work with and my favorite.
Yellow has also emerged as a popular color choice for 2009 because it seems to invigorate and comfort people. Hues ranging from bright citron to a light orange seems to be the most popular, and are even incorporated into the appliances as well…so yes, you can get a bright yellow stove or refrigerator and accent it with any base color like white. White always seems to be the best color choice when using bright colors. Get real trendy with maybe doing your floors in a checkered board style of yellow and white tiles. It is absolutely gorgeous.
For a more subtle look, incorporate hues of mauve and earth tones for a striking appearance to your kitchen. Add some glass to your kitchen. Use a glass top for your kitchen island if you have one. It will reflect all the colors in your kitchen and bring out your darker tones throughout. Blue continues to be a favorite in most American homes and still makes strong impact in any kitchen.
As we see dark blue transforming into the purple hues, lighter blue colors will continue to be at the forefront of color design. Light blue is now being incorporated into kitchen sinks, floors and faucets. Its probably not to far into the future we’ll be seeing light blue cabinets if it isn’t already out there.
Gray is now the new neutral color for 2009. It bridges the gap between black and brown and truly compliments a kitchen designed around this palette with stainless steel appliances. Add gray as a neutral base and it truly accents everything around it. Incorporate metallic finishes like your faucets and a stainless steel kitchen sink. Time to look at gray in a new light. Orange and pink also emerge as popular color choices influencing an Asian or Middle Eastern theme. Incorporate on walls and doors to make a strong statement. Orange accents on a base of gray adds such a stunning appearance to any kitchen.
So there we have it. A color snap shot for ‘09. Take these color ideas into consideration when your deciding on your kitchen cabinets and other aspects of your kitchen remodel. It will not only be “modern”, but will have such an impact if done to compliment the rest of your home.
